Davina (nee Dawn Divine) has been writing costuming books about as long as I have been dancing. In my early dancer days, I would purchase and pore over her books at the time, looking for ideas and inspiration.

She offers a free PDF "booklet" on her website with general guidelines for putting together a costume, and care and storage of your costumes. It touches on both cabaret and classic tribal (think turbans and 10-yards) styles. Check it out here!
