Mm Mm Monday - Melanie Moore

I have watched every season of So You Think You Can Dance since it began 10 years ago. In all the years, Melanie has always been the one I remember. When I think of the show, when I think of winners, when I think of my favorite...it's always Melanie.

Mm Mm Monday - Alex Wong & Twitch

Today's Mm Mm Monday video is from Season 7 of So You think You Can Dance. It remains one of my favorites. This collection of video footage is a great way to lead in to the video I wanted to share today, because it showcases both Alex's typical skillset, and then goes into the Mm Mm Monday clip of the day.

The first three clips in the video show you Alex performing ballet solos--he is a classically trained ballet dancer working with a Florida ballet company. Then around 3:00 we get into the hip hop piece he had to perform as part of the competition. In the hip hop piece, Alex is dancing with All-Star Twitch, a hip hop dancer who was a contestant on a previous season of the show returned to partner with contestants this season. And as we have established from the previous clips, and confirmed in the package before the hip hop routine is performed, Alex is NOT a hip hop dancer. Never done it before. That is what makes it so mind blowing. Enjoy!

FYI, Alex did not end up making it to the end of the show due to rupturing his left achilles during rehearsals. It is commonly believed he would have swept right into a win. He was invited to come on as an All-Star in 2011, but unfortunately he blew his RIGHT achilles at a Step Up 4 audition, and so did not return. He remains among the favorite performers of all time on SYTYCD!

SYTYCD: Final Four video and thoughts on Evan

Last night my Tivo, based on some bogus program data, missed the first hour of the So You Think You can Dance finale. Facebook to the rescue, one complaint later (bracelet moved to other wrist) and I had friends telling me their online sources for the videos. Hooray! For those of you who missed it:

Gabi Rojas on SYTYCD

I can't wait to see what else she brings to this show this season!!



I love that she got a standing ovation from the entire group, and that Nigel who "doesn't want to say anything more at this point" goes on and on and on about her. Her storytelling was incredible, her choreography was amazing...I give it a big Mary "WAAHHAHHHHAAAAAA!"

SYTYCD Rubbernecking

Rubbernecking is so common, last night's So You Think You Can Dance garnered the same reactions from reviewers. Today I got tons of forwards and mentions of the "crazy girl doing the Star Wars dance," but no mentions of the INCREDIBLE first dancer and her completely amazing and unique choreography, nor the last two dancers who made the judges cry they were so powerful.

OH MY GAWD! My friends, did you see the 2 hour premier? I can't wait to see what this season has in store!
